David Weisbrod has been a photographer and teacher since 1999. He graduated from RIT twice, with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Photography in 1997, and a Master of Science in Teaching in 1999. He has been teaching at Penfield for his entire career. When Mr. Weisbrod arrived at PHS, there was only one course in digital media – a 1/2 year Computer Graphics class. Since then, he has written or co-written classes in Digital Photography, Animation, Digital Video Production, Computer Game Design, Studio in Media Arts, and Desktop Publishing.

Mr. Weisbrod used to keep a WordPress blog for each of his classes. However, since the pandemic, those classes have all been moved to Microsoft Teams. Mr. Weisbrod is now building galleries of student work from his classes, which you can see here. He also has a YouTube channel full of demonstrations and other art-related information here.

Before teaching at PHS, Mr. Weisbrod also worked as a Media Specialist and surgical photographer at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Now, he also photographs semi-professionally, and occasionally designs websites. He photographs weddings and other events on a regular basis, and has also traveled to many places around the world to take photographs, including the Middle East, Alaska, Curacao, and also Africa, photographing a not-for-profit coffee plantation in Uganda, and an orphanage in Kenya. His photographs have been published in several places including the Democrat and Chronicle, and Sport Diver Magazine.

We had the opportunity to have Dave photograph our wedding for us in May of 2002. He was very professional and easy to work with. He came down (to Baltimore) for the wedding a day early to spend time taking pictures of the guys during the bachelor party and also accompanied the girls to the hair salon the morning of the wedding to capture some shots of the girls getting ready. He was very accommodating with our list of planned pictures with family and friends and took the initiative in taking candid pictures during the reception.
I just wanted to let you know that we received our wedding photos! They came out absolutely amazing. You were a complete joy to have as our photographer and we got nothing but compliments from everyone at the wedding about you. Thank you so much for shooting our wedding.
At a live occasion like a wedding the moments are passing so quickly, but Dave has an eye for catching just the right moment in an almost invisible manner, capturing both timeless beauty and the human spirit. A lot of people can be trained to photograph, but few will see it from the quality of his perspective. At my wedding Dave arrived at the site well in advance, spent time planning and crafting his shots, and suggested a number of unusual photo op’s to a very well-prepared, type-A bride.
We hired David Weisbrod to document our company's large 20th Anniversary Party in early 2011. They arrived on-time and ready to work, and captured the emotion, energy and essence of our special night superbly. All the key moments and details were caught beautifully. Even in the challenging low-lighting conditions, our images came out just how we remember it looking through our eyes that night. Thank you David Weisbrod for your exceptional expertise, professionalism, and timely photo delivery. You exceeded our (high) expectations!
Dave, Thank you for being such a great wedding photographer. We have so many beautiful pictures and you helped make our day very special.
I thank God you were willing to shoot Kristie's Senior Portrait. Thank you for the hours you spent and all your expertise. You made Kristie feel at ease... and from the beginning you made Kristie smile!
It was very important to us to capture every moment of our wedding. I had high expectations for Dave, and he delivered. My personal favorite is candid photos, and he did those perfectly. You hardly even noticed him stealthily moving around the room, capturing the best moments. The pictures show a story of what was happening and the emotion from the people in them, you always get the most honest pictures when the people in them don't realize they're being taken. The family portraits also turned out great. He gave good direction to everyone (which I know can be hard) and got great shots. The quality of the photos is top notch, because he uses great equipment. And to top everything off, Dave is a very nice and easy guy to work with. That alone can be almost as important as the pictures themselves. If you're looking for any professional photography I recommend that you call Dave and see what he has to offer... I am very happy with my results and I'm sure you will be too.
