Visual Research Project for January 31

Alright, everyone – I am out again today because this Flu is a pretty rough one. So what we’re going to do is get moving on our first assignment:  HDR photography.

So here’s what I want you to do.  I want you to go online and research exactly what HDR photography is, find an excellent example of a HDR photograph. You should   Copy that photograph into a Word and then answer the following questions.

  1. What does HDR stand for?
  2. How does a photographer photograph a HDR image?
  3. What are the advantages of HDR imaging?
  4. What are the disadvantages of HDR images?
  5. What kind of subjects seem to be best for HDR?
  6. What are the special features of certain images that make them good subjects for HDR photography?
  7. Brainstorm some places/subjects in Rochester that would good for HDR photography?
  8. What about the image that you chose made it stand out from all the others that you looked at?
  9. What techniques (other than HDR) did the photographer use to make this photograph?  How did the photographer compose the photograph?
  10. What kind of lens do you think the photographer used?  How can you tell?
  11. What other piece(s) of equipment might be necessary to use in order to make an HDR image?

Once you are done, and you have the image pasted into the top of the Word, and you have answered all the questions, print the word doc in color and give it to your sub.

Digital Photography Review

I am sick at home with the flu!  Hope to be back by tomorrow if I relax, and I didn’t want you do sit there and do nothing.  Follow the instructions below and I’ll see you tomorrow (Note my optimism!)

Just below is a handout/review on camera use.  Download this and then print it out on the HS-A02-BW1 printer.  Staple the pages together.

Below is a link to a webpage which has all sorts of information about camera usage.  Using that website (or others) answer all the questions on the handout.
